- Elmer E. Warning, Shiocton, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Rennes Health Care Center in Appleton. Elmer was born on February 7, 1923, in Hortonville, son of the late Edward and Lulubell Warning. On April 22, 1944, he was united in marriage to Erna Van Straten, in El Paso, TX. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2007. He worked for the Outagamie County Highway Department for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. Elmer loved to fish the spring walleye run. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton. He served his country in the U.S. Army, during WWII.
Elmer is survived by his children: David (Barb) Warning, Shiocton and Wendy (Brian) Murphy, Shiocton; five grandchildren: A.J. (Diane) Adams, Hortonville; Benjamin (Laura) Warning, Gillett; Angela (Mike) Schneiderwend, Kaukauna; Peter Warning, Shiocton; Jacob Ratsch, Boyton Beach, FL; one great-grandchild, Cole Adams. Sisters-in-law: Agnes Brownson, Seymour; Dorothy Van Straten, Lilas Van Straten and Nona Van Straten all of Appleton; also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents and wife, Elmer is preceded in death by his sisters Helen (Edward) Mueller, Mildred (Henry) Stolzman and a brother Lester (Dorothy) Warning.
Funeral Mass for Elmer will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church in Shiocton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Military Graveside Rites will be held by American Legion Post 512 of Shiocton. Friends may call directly at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
