- Norbert J. Horn, Sherwood, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born October 17, 1920 in Hilbert, son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Horn. On September 14, 1972 Norb married the former Barb Buchinger. The couple lived in Sherwood, where from 1972 - 1984 they owned and operated "The Granary" Supper Club. He was very proud of the winning softball teams he supported and was an avid Brewers fan. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage together prior to her death on March 25, 2011. Prior to owning "The Granary" Norb farmed in Hilbert and operated a milk route. He also worked for the Village of Hilbert, the Chilton Canning Company and drove bus part-time. Norb enjoyed creating arts and crafts with his wife, Barb. He also cherished many weeks sightseeing, fishing, and visiting at their cabin in the northwoods. He loved to spend time with the grandchildren. Norb enjoyed sharing area history and reminiscing with his friends over a good game of sheepshead. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sherwood, the Sherwood Lions, the Catholic Knights, and the Sherwood Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his children: Bruce (Michelle) Koehler of Combined Locks and their children, Moriah, Alyssa, Evan, and Jared; Toni (Dale) Reh of Menasha; Eric (Janet) Koehler of Oshkosh and their children, Erika, Ryan, and Cory; a brother, Eugene Horn, Menasha, a sister, Josephine Van Linn, Neenah, a sister-in-law: Shirley Horn, Menasha; and a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth (Tony) Mallmann, Florida. He is further survived by his wife's family: Mark (Dorothy) Buchinger, Kimberly; Jean Buchinger, Appleton; Catherine (Louis) Seegers, Kimberly; and Mary Margaret Schmit, Seymour.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barb; a brother, Marvin; and 3 sisters: Marie (Norbert) Vande Yacht, Angie (Gregory) Weber, and Georgine (Lloyd) Porter.
Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, N369 Military, Sherwood with Fr. Michael Betley officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday directly at Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
