- Alice C. Bales, nee Bohn, 82, of the town of Scott, Kewaskum, died peacefu lly surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Community Memo rial Hospital, Menomonee Falls.She was born on Jan. 29, 1921, in the town of West Bend to the late Edwa rd and Carolina (Wagner) Boh. She attended Rusco Elementary and Holy Ange ls schools and graduated from West Bend High School in 1939.On May 4, 1943 she married Sylvester J. Bales at St. John of God Chur ch in the town of Farmington. He passed away on July 31, 2001.Alice retired from Fairmont Foods of Kewaskum after 30 years of employment .
She was a published poet and a Gold Star Mother.Alice enjoyed knitting, crocheting, genealogy, and also enjoyed correspond ing with her friends and family via e-mail.She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in St. Michaels, and w as a past member and liturgist of St. Matthias Catholic Church, town of Au burn.Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Pionkowski of Waldo, S ue (fiance Gary Rochester) Barcus of Wooster, Ohio and Beth Ann Bales of G rafton; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Pionkowski of Minneapolis, Minn., Jac queline (Jeff) Rose of Jeromesville, Ohio and Aaron (Erin) Reigle of Bebe e, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Marie Rose and James Doyle Ros e; a sister, Eleanor (Merlin) Enright of Random Lake; two sisters-in-la w, Eleanor Bohn of Sheboygan and Marion Bohn of West Bend. On Sylvester 's side, three sisters-in-law, Dolores (Robert) Hoeft, Rosalie (Walter) Ho eft and Sylvia (Eugene) Belunes and three brothers-in-law, Raymond (Lorett a) Bales, Alex (Marie) Bales and the late Franklin (Margaret) Bales, a ll of West Bend.She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding her in death were a son, Cliff; a daughter, Kristie; three broth ers; and a sister.Closing of casket prayers will be Thursday, July 17 at 9:45 a.m. at the Ph illip Funeral Home, West Bend, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a. m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. Michaels.Father Robert J. Artmann will officiate, and interment will be in Holy Ang els Cemetery, West Bend.Visitation at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m., wi th a prayer vigil at 8 p.m. with Father Michael Peterson.Memorials are appreciated to St. Joseph's Convent of Campbellsport.
