- Kollath, Pearl H., Appleton Age 92, passed away in Appleton on Tuesday, January 13, 2004. Pearl was bo rn in Appleton on January 20, 1911, daughter of the late Robert and Emma ( Bernetzke) Rohm. She married Erwin Kollath in 1939. He preceded her in dea th in 1975. Pearl was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. H er chosen profession was teaching. It was a profession she dearly loved a nd she taught for 44 years. She had been a principal at Badger School a nd retired from Johnson School in Appleton. After retirement she spent ti me traveling in Europe, Africa, and Australia, as well as enjoying her gra ndchildren. Pearl always had a great sense of humor, and a zest for life t hat was a joy to her family. She gave freely of her time and talents where ver they were needed. Pearl enjoyed sewing, gardening, collecting, and h er adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately knew h er as "Gummy." She will be deeply missed by her family.Pearl is survived by two children: Richard R. (Cindy) Kollath of Applet on and Barbara "BK" Wetzel Huss (Jim) of Appleton; three grandchildren: Ke lly Kollath (fiance, Ike) of Appleton, Wendy Wetzel Carter (Rick) of Georg ia, and Stacy Wetzel of Georgia; and her great-grandchildren; Mariah Wetz el and Ryan Carter who will sadly miss her. Her grandson Eric Kollath prec eded her in death.Pearl came from a family of 12 children. She is preceded in death by her b rothers: Elmer, Ralph, Gordon and Watson Rohm; and her sisters: Hazel Bung ert, Lucille Buelow, Stella Kuckenbecker, Mabelle Schommer, Gertrude Heinr ich, Myrtle Buettner and Gladys Woelz.The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 200 4, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, wi th Rev. Lynn Kollath officiating. Friends will be received at the funer al home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial w ill be at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Centu ry Oaks for their compassionate care of Pearl.Memorials will be donated to the American Diabetes Association.
