- Flora M. Appleton, Kaukauna, age 84, passed away peacefully with her husband Thomas Appleton at her side on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the St. Paul Home in Kaukauna, WI. She was born October 25, 1930 in Kaukauna, daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Van Linn) Brouillard. Flora met Tom while working at Zwickers Knitting Mill. On September 5, 1958 they were married at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. They lived in the Kaukauna area their entire lives.
Flora was a homemaker all of her life. After raising their five children, she worked for a few years at Butte des Morts Golf Course in Appleton and then at Colonial House in Freedom. Some of Flora's favorite pastimes were walking, swimming, working with her flowers, making crafts, sewing, puzzles, reading and baking. Everyone always loved her homemade chocolate chip cookies and apple pies! They were the best! She liked listening to a variety of music, especially Vince Gill and enjoyed going to some of his concerts. Flora bowled on a league in Wrightstown for many years. Tom and Flora loved playing Sheepshead and attending Packer games with their friends. After retirement, they were able to travel and visit many places such as Alaska, Branson, MO, western United States and Canada. They were members of Holy Cross Catholic Church and Flora donated baked goods for church events whenever possible. She also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul in later years.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas and their children: Lori (Rick) Hedtke of Appleton, David Appleton of Kaukauna, Stephen Appleton of Kaukauna, Kim (Scott) Walbrun of Appleton, and DeAnn (Jeff) Kohlbeck of Appleton, 6 grandsons: Derek and Aaron Hedtke, Thomas and Jacob Appleton, and Zachary and Luke Walbrun. She is further survived by her husband's family; Daniel (Nancy) Appleton of Kaukauna, Elizabeth Appleton of Appleton, Carol Appleton of Kaukauna, Tom Sutliff of Colorado, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and brothers in law: Mavis (Lloyd) Jansen and Shirley (Ewald) Gottschalk, and stepmother, Joy Brouillard. She is further preceded in death by her husband's family: Clark and Charles Appleton and Patricia Sutliff.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna with Father Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for Alzheimers Foundation of America.

Mom- you were such a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. We love you and will miss you always. We're at peace knowing that your battle with dementia is over and we know you will be smiling down on us from heaven. You will be forever in our hearts, until we meet again.
