- Jane Van Hout, 79, Kimberly, died peacefully with her son Joe at her side, Tuesday, November 17, 2009. She was born December 13, 1929, in Little Chute, daughter of Rudolph Sr. and Johanna (Vander Sanden) Hermus. Jane was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. She attended St. John Grade School and St. John High School for 2 years. She was previously employed at Wisconsin Telephone Company and Appleton Extended Care for 27 years. Jane married Joseph Van Hout Sr. on June 15, 1948, at St. John Catholic Church. Jane and Joe moved to Kimberly for 48 years, then back to Little Chute for 14 years until Joe's death October 19, 1997. After that Jane volunteered at St. John Mission Club and St. John Parish Office for about 4 years until she moved to Deerbrook in 2001. Jane also liked to volunteer with Valley Area Special Needs Programs. For the past 4 years Jane has lived at Hallmark Place, Kimberly.
Jane is survived by her seven children: Rudy (Janet), Combined Locks; Steve (Jerelyn), Blanchardville; Joe Jr. (Vicky), Little Chute; Maggie (Jim) Wildenberg, Black Creek; Laure Dictus, Combined Locks; Ben (Babe), Madison; Julie (Wayne) Baumann, Fort Collins, CO; grandchildren: Brent (Cody), Jonas, Melissa, Lucas, Chris Van Hout; Valerie (Dave) Schroeder; Tom (Amanda), Ben (Becky) Wildenberg; Katie (Nick) Scaggs; Jason (Laura) Van Rossum; Billy, Angela, Dana Dictus; Zachary, Aja, Harrison Van Hout; two step-grandchildren: Bret (Megan) and LaRae Baumann; six great-grandchildren: Ethan Miller, Trevor and Taylor Santkyle, Peyton and Owen Van Hout, Delaney Grace Scaggs; a step-great-grandson, Ashton Scaggs; a sister, Sister Jane Hermus, Wheaton, IL; three sisters-in-law: Betty Hermus, Appleton; Honey Hermus, Kimberly; Jeanne Hermus, Little Chute; a brother-in-law, Dave (Rosemary) Verhagen, FL.
Jane was also preceded in death by three infants: Peter, Mary Ann, and baby Jane; her parents; brothers: Casey, Johnny, Rudy Hermus; a sister, Margaret Verhagen; special friend, Nubby Mischler.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interment will be in Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery, Kimberly. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m. Thursday until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
Jane's family wishes to thank Msgr. James Vanden Hogen for visiting mom as often as you did. Also thanks to the staffs at UW Hospital, St. Elizabeth Hospital, and especially the staff at St. Paul Home.
