- Guckenberger, Anthony C. "Tony"Appleton Age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 12, 2002 at Appleton Medi cal Center. He will be deeply missed by his wife Charlotte whom he w ed on August 3, 1954 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Darboy; Mark A. (De bra), Darboy; Cindy Lou (Rick) DeBruin, Kimberly; David J. (Debra), Ashipp un, Wisconsin; Donald J., Appleton; and Vicki (Chuck) Sahr, Menasha. He wi ll especially be missed by his beloved grandchildren Christie, Rebecca, Za chary, and Aaron Guckenberger; John, Mac, and Alex Guckenberger; Michael a nd Michelle Guckenberger; and Natasha and Jacob Sahr. He is also surviv ed by his sisters Evelyn E. Guckenberger, and Mildred (Larry) Kuklinski, a ll of Appleton; his in-laws: Ernesta Wysocki, Milwaukee; Greg (Bonnie) Hop fensperger, Brillion, Geneva (John) Hanges, Appleton; Carl (Caroline) Hopf ensperger, New Albany, Indiana; Donna (Joe) Bouressa, Green Bay; Jim (Joyc e) Hopfensperger, Black Creek; and Sharon Hopfensperger, Menasha. He was born on September 26, 1932 in Appleton the son of the late Christi an and Jennie (Schuh) Guckenberger. He served his country in the United St ates Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Research Engine er at Pechiney (formerly American Can) where he was instrumental in the de velopment of numerous food related packages and patents retiring in 199 3. He was 2000 Janet Berry Volunteer of the year sponsored by The Post-Cre scent. He served on the Marathon Credit Union Board of Directors, and w as the current president of the Golden "K" Kiwanis Club. Tony and his fami ly were charter and active members of St. Bernadette Parish. Tony voluntee red many hours at the Thompson Community Center, Appleton Medical Cente r, Salvation Army, and numerous other charities. He and his grandson Micha el volunteered many Thanksgivings at the Salvation Army cooking and servi ng food for the needy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Rita (Andy) Boehnlei n, his father and mother-in-law Matt (Lessie) Hopfensperger; his brothers- in-law Edgar, Elwood (Joan), and Matt Hopfensperger; his sisters-in-law Eu genia (John) Hoffman, and Ranetta (Bob) Voigt. Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted on Thursday, May 16, 2002 at 1 1:00 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 East Lourdes Drive. Visita tion will be on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4-8 PM, and on Thursd ay at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the mass. Parish prayer a nd scripture services will be at 7:30 PM on Wednesday. In lieu of flower s, a memorial fund is being established.
