- Private funeral services were held Tuesday for Harvey J. Bernard, 69, of Route 1, Kiel, who died Monday at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sheboygan. The Rev. Francis Kerscher, pastor, was celebrant of the funeral Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Kiel. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Bernard was born September 24, 1909, in the town of Woodville, a son of Frank and Catherine Tilger Bernard. He attended St. Mary School, Chilton. On September 27, 1938, he married the former Anita Koehler at Sherwood. The couple resided in Chilton until 1947, when they moved to a farm at Route 1, Kiel. Mr. Bernard retired in 1968 due to ill health. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Kiel Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Jerome Broehm, route 2, Brillion, Mrs. Allen Buchholz, Route 1, Kiel, Mrs. Thomas Muellenbach, Route 1, Malone, and Mrs. John Korb, Route 1, St. Cloud; nine grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence, route 2, Reedsville, and three sisters, Mrs. Melvin Gelling, Kaukauna, Mrs. Raymond Loose, Hilbert and Mrs. Gerald Freund, Fond du Lac.
