- Age 82, died Sunday, March 23, 1997 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton.
He was born on August 27, 1914 in the Town of Woodville, the son of the late Gustave and Emma (Brandes) Loose. He had attended school at St. Peter's Lutheran School in Hilbert.
He was married to Kathleen Bernard on June 30, 1943. After marriage, the couple farmed in the Town of Rantoul until 1963, when they moved to Hilbert. Ray also worked for the Brillion Iron Works until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert, a member of the Hilbert Fire Department for 18 years, a member of the Tri-Parish Council of the Knights of Columbus in Hilbert and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Chilton. Ray also served as an usher at St. Mary's Parish and worked as a janitor at St. Mary's Catholic School in Hilbert. He also was a member of Hilbert Senior Citizens. Ray enjoyed bowling, playing cards and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law; Lillian Meerstein, Plymouth; Mrs. Robert (Catherine) Mitchem, Oklahoma City. Oklahoma; five sons and daughters-in-law; Robert and Sylvia Loose, Forest Junction; Leon and Cheryl Loose, Menasha; Leroy and Lana Loose, Brillion; Merlin and Kathy Loose and Michael K. and Anita Loose, all of Hilbert; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Lefeber, Potter; two brothers and sisters-in-law; Wilmer and Lucinda Loose, Chilton; Roman and Lois Loose, Sheboygan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathleen in 1994, a daughter in infancy, Ruby, and a brother, Norbert.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 1997 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert with Rev. Rallen Stencil officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 1997 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hilbert and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. There will be services conducted by the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Eagles at the church on Tuesday evening.
