- Margaret Spaulding, age 89, of Appleton, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Appleton Medical Center due to health complications.
Margie was born January 17, 1924, in Appleton, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Scherer) Kersten. While she was attending Kaukauna High School, she met her future husband Orville and they were married in June 1944 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kaukauna. He preceded her in death in September 2004. Margie then met her other sweetie Len Kutz in 2006. It was Len's gentle encouragement that Margie became a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Appleton. During her lifetime, Margaret worked as a secretary and as a child care provider.
Survivors include her sweetheart, Len; her son, Thomas Spaulding, Appleton; two grandchildren: Jesse Spaulding and Shelley (Jeff) Christopherson; great-grandchildren: Dylon, Benjamin, Lexa (deceased), Mickayla, and Nathan; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by all her siblings and spouses: Lucille Nabbefeld, Bertha Bloch Effa, Dorothy Van Dyke, Paul Kersten and Edwin Kersten, and all of Orville's siblings and spouses.
The memorial service for Margie will be Thursday, May 23, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Star of Hope Chapel, Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Visitation will begin Thursday at 9:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the Highland Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Margie's honor may be sent to the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2330 E. Calumet St., Appleton, 54915.
