- Van Abel, Anne "Duff" (nee Du ffy)Anne Van Abel, of Hollandtown, age 79, died peacefully on Friday, April 2 2, 2005, at home with her family by her side. She was born February 11, 19 26, in the Town of Holland to the late Jack and Stella (Golden) Duffy. Du ff attended St. Francis Grade School, grades 1 thru 10, and was a gradua te of Kaukauna High School. She went on to attend the University of Wiscon sin, Madison. Duff worked for the Selective Service on the Draft Board unt il 1960. On August 28, 1954, she married Wilfred "Will" Van Abel at St. Fr ancis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Will preceded her in death on Octob er 22, 2002, after 48 years of marriage. Duff and Will, along with Don a nd Bernice, were best known for their successful operation of Van Abel's S upper Club in Hollandtown.She was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. D uff was a true philanthropist. She helped raise money for the first ambula nce service in the city of Kaukauna. Duff was still actively supporting t he food pantry in Kaukauna. She was responsible for organizing the "Hollan dtown Christmas Food Drive," the March of Dimes Talent Show, as well as co llecting food and funds for area families in need. Duff was an avid Gre en Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers football fan.Duff is survived by her daughter, Jane (Gary) Marx, her sons: Tim (Nanc y) Van Abel, Mike (Diane) Van Abel, John "Gus" (JoAnn) Van Abel, Jerry V an Abel and Patrick (Kristie) Van Abel, 19 grandchildren: Willie, Maggi e, Jenny and Kelsey Van Abel, Jack, Joe, Anne and Mary Marx, Joe, Laura, L eah, Maria and Kyle, Dean and Roslyn Van Abel, Casey Van Abel, a brothe r, Judge William Duffy, Green Bay; a sister-in-law, Kathleen "Tink" Duff y, Green Bay; special nieces: Patricia Lindberg, Sue Van Abel, Katie Coene n, Joan Van Abel and other nieces and nephews. She is further surviv ed by her husband's family, Julie (Marv) Hooyman, AZ; Marianne (Ralph) Gri esbach, Sterling, Il; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband Will, a sister and brother-in-la w: Helen (Frank) Bauman, a brother, John Jr., a sister-in-law, Betty Duff y. She was further preceded by her husband's family: Bob (Helen) Van Abe l, Jerry Van Abel, Don (Bernice) Van Abel and Nancy (Bud) Grams.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday April 25th at ST. FRANC IS CATHOLIC CHURCH, Hollandtown. Friends will be received on Sunday at t he Boettcher family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna from 3 p .m. until 8 p.m. and again on Monday at Church from 9 a.m. until the ti me of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being establish ed in Duff's name to benefit local charities.A special thanks to all the employees, past and present, friends and custo mers of Van Abel Brother's Supper Club. The family would also like to expr ess sincere thanks to nurse Paul and the Theda Care Hospice Program. A ve ry special thanks to Ellen Schiebe for her care and compassion with Duff.
