- Charles Dietzen of Appleton, passed away surrounded by his loving family at Appleton Retirement Center on Monday, May 14, 2012. He was born in Darboy on July 7, 1919 to the late Peter and Mary (Johann) Dietzen. Charles married Gladys Lopas on October 9, 1936 and she preceded him in death. He was employed as a truck driver for CW Transport. He later became an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College in their truck driving program and trained truck drivers for U.S. Oil. Charles helped organize the Inland Lakes Rehabilitation District in Townsend, WI. He was a member of Chapter 73 of the CCC. He enjoyed working in his garage building bird houses and anything else made of wood. Fishing and hunting at their cottage in Townsend occupied most of his "retired" spare time.
He is survived by his sons: Ronald (Becky), Robert (Mary) and Ted (Norma); 17 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; a sister, Elizabeth and a brother, Eugene.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife; sons: Kenneth and James; sisters: Rosella (Earl) Pogrant and Mary Ann (Richard) Endter.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, May 18, 2012 at the funeral home with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may visit the family from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
