- Ahlgren-Knox, Valery Lake GenevaFormerly of Appleton, age 92, passed away Monday, October 15, 2001 at Burl ington Memorial Hospital. Valery was born March 25, 1909 in Kaukauna, t he daughter of the late Charles and Rose (Gloudeman) Vanevenhoven. Vale ry spent most of her youth in Kaukauna, graduating from Kaukauna High Scho ol. She then attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison, obtaini ng a degree in education and science. Valery taught home economics and sci ence in various locations including Indianapolis, Indiana; Waterloo, Iow a; and locally at Neenah and Xavier High Schools. Valery married Theodo re Ahlgren on June 6, 1936 in Indianapolis. He died June 22, 1958. She lat er married Edward Knox on June 23, 1972 in Appleton. He died July 7, 198 2. Valery was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Appleton.She will be deeply missed by her two sons, Charles (Marianne) Ahlgren, Cra nston, RI and Stephen (Cathleen) Ahlgren, Lake Geneva; grandchildren: Ingr id and Theodore Ahlgren, Cranston, R.I. and Joseph and Jamie Ahlgren, La ke Geneva, Wisconsin; two brothers and two sisters: Eloy Vanevenhoven, Kau kauna; Thomas (Peg) Vanevenhoven, Yuba City, California; Dorothy Eslien, O shkosh and Joanne (Gene) Schiedermayer, Missoula, Montana. She was also pr eceded in death by a son, James Ahlgren on February 1, 1945 and a granddau ghter, Stephenie Marie Ahlgren, on February 5, 1994; also two brothers: No rbert and Robert Vanevenhoven; and sisters: Mary Lou Lowes and Ruth Vanden berg.The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Octob er 19th, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1617 W. Pine Street, Appleton, wi th Fr. John Bergstadt officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Ce metery Kaukauna. Friends may call directly at the church from 10 a.m. Frid ay until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established f or St. Bernard Catholic Church.
