- Elmer A. Kieffer; 807 Miller Lane, Kaukauna; Age 86, passed away Saturda y, January 6, 2001, at the Appleton Medical Center following a brief illne ss. Elmer was born in Kaukauna on May 12, 1914, son of the late Peter a nd Nellie (Arnoldussen) Kieffer. On June 8, 1943, he married the former Ru th Wagner at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Elmer was a longti me employee of Thilmany Pulp and Paper and was a member of the Quarter-Cen tury Club. Having served in the United States Army-Air Corps during Wor ld War II, he was also a member of the Electric City Post #3319 of the VF W. Many will remember Elmer for his bountiful and well-cared-for garde n, as well as his hunting, fishing, and card playing.He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kieffer of Kaukauna; two daughters, Car la (Ray) Kempen of Egg Harbor and Mary Lee (Joe) Spitz of New Berlin; a so n, Roy (Sandy) Kieffer of Combined Locks; a daughter-in-law, Sue Pohlman-G reenman of Appleton; ten grandchildren, Kellie Marquez, Catherine (Robert o) Guillen, Lonni Kieffer, Kerri Kieffer, Stacie Kieffer, Nettie Spitz, T om Spitz, Missy Kieffer Rost, Shannon Greenman, and Michelle Greenman; sev en great-grandchildren, Kayla, Karlie, and Sarah Marquez; Jacob and Josh ua Guillen; Kore and Anthony Mork; a brother, Carl (Georgianna) Kieff er of Freedom; three sisters, Janet Van Handel of Kaukauna, Betty Verbet en of Kaukauna, and Audrey (Bud) Albers of De Pere; two sisters-in-law, E va Kieffer of Appleton and Mary Kieffer of Kimberly. He is also surviv ed by Ruth's sister and brothers, Lois (Harold) Lamers of Appleton, Fra nk (Rita) Wagner of Melbourne, Florida, and Chas (Marge) Wagner of Pewauke e. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gary Kieffer; brothe rs, Orville (Lorraine) Kieffer, Earl Kieffer, and Gordon (Magdalene) Kieff er, and by brothers-in-law, John Peters, Matt Van Handel, and Ben Verbeten .The funeral liturgy for Elmer will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Janua ry 8, 2001, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukau na with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemeter y. Friends may call directly at the church on Monday from 1 p.m. until t he hour of the service. The members of VFW Post #3319 will provide milita ry memorial rites on Monday following the liturgy.
