- Eugene W. Dorn, 92, Appleton, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Fox River Assisted Living. He was born in the Town of Ellington on February 16, 1917, to the late Daniel and Charlotte (Ullman) Dorn. He married Dorothy Coenen on April 30, 1941. They farmed in the Grand Chute area for over 40 years. Eugene volunteered his time for 25 years at St. Joe's Food Pantry and St. Vincent DePaul. He loved to go fishing with the grandkids. Eugene was known for his huge weed-free vegetable garden along with his beautiful flower gardens.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Eugene (Kathy) Dorn, Appleton and their children Scott Dorn and Steven (Amy) Dorn, and Kenneth (Jillene) Dorn, Shiocton, and their children Travis (Thi) Dorn, Shane (Paula) Dorn, and Dr. Clint Dorn; granddaughter, Jane Maroszek; grandson, David Maroszek; four great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kiley, Isabel and Alexis; brothers, Donald (Mary Lou) Dorn, Appleton; Lawrence (Billie Jean) Dorn, Menasha; and Jerome (Marilyn) Dorn, Dale; sisters, Eunice Brockman, Freedom; Beatrice (Gene) Otto, Appleton; Florence (Harold) Woldt, Neenah; Rosella Earnst, Madison; Charolette Koerner, Appleton; and Pat (Eric) Jack, Hortonville. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Maroszek; sister, Esthermae Krull and brothers, Edwin Dorn and Daniel Dorn.
Funeral services for Eugene will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at St. Pius X Catholic Church (500 W. Marquette St.) Appleton, with Rev. Thomas Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
