- Herman J. Kees, 88, N8328 Cty. Hwy. BB, Hilbert, died on Thursday, Jan 17, 2008. He was born on Aug. 25, 1919, in St. John, son of the late Michael & Theresa (Zepnick) Kees. On July 3, 1945, he married Marie Rademacher at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. Herman farmed in the Town of Woodville. He also served on the Calumet County Board of Supervisors for 17 years and served as chairman of the Calumet County Highway Committee. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John and was a founding member of the St. John Choir. He also was a member of the Holy Name Society, Catholic Knights, and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved to play cards and was a skat champion.
Survivors include his children, Betty (Keith) Uhlenbrauck, Darboy; Daniel (Terri) Kees, Sedalia, Mo.; Bill (Margo) Kees, Brillion; Nathalie Kees, Ft. Collins, Colo.; Tom (Sue) Kees, Brillion; Nancy (Mark) Holz, Hilbert; 17 grandchildren, Brian, Chris (Denise) and April Struebing, Craig (Melissa) Uhlenbrauck, Dawn (Marc) Fry, Wade (Liz) Uhlenbrauck, Adam (Lee Ellen) Kees, Melanie (Josh) Squires, Rebecca and Victoria Kees, Cody and Emily Kees, Jon, and Maria Kees, Andy, Evan, and Laura Holz; ten great-grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jim Struebing, Brillion; brothers and sisters, Adelbert Kees, Rita (Ray) Mueller, Sister Cecile Marie, Sister Marie, Ruth Uitenbroek, Sister Anacile, Regina (Marvin) Brickner, Dorothy (Roland) Brandt, Martin (Mary Kay) Kees, Michael (Chris) Kees and Ann (Charles) Peters.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marie on June 14, 2004; a daughter, Diane Struebing; his parents; his stepmother, Clara Popp; sisters, Lillian Kees, Hildegard Kees, Alvera Kees; brothers, Leonard Kees and Joseph Kees; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen Kees, Esther Kees, Claude Uitenbroek, Armon Zahn and Joyce Kees.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in St. John. The Revs. Phillip Dinh-Van-Thiep and Kenneth Frozena will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and then at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Herman's name.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff at the Calumet Medical Center and Chilton Care Center for the care given to Herman.
