- Calaway, Jerome G. "Kelly"Jerome G. "Kelly" Calaway, 79, De Pere, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2007, at a local hospital due to injuries from an automobile accident. He was born April 18, 1927, to the late Felix and Mayne (Vande Hei) Calaway in De Pere. On May 22, 1950, he married the former Marjorie Van Camp in De Pere. Jerome attended NWTC to obtain his GED. He retired from the Fort Howard Paper Co. after 42 years. Jerome belonged to the Fort Howard Quarter Century Club, De Pere Men's Club, Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He volunteered at Green Bay Correctional Institution as part of the "Faith at Work" program for 31 years. He also collected aluminum can tabs to raise money for Syble Hopp School, kidney dialysis and the Ronald McDonald House. He also loved attending daily 7:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family. Above all, he will be remembered as a man who practiced random acts of kindness to all on a daily basis. He was a perfect example to his children and grandchildren of what a husband and father should be.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; four children, Steven (Kathy) Calaway, Larry (Nonie) Calaway, Dale (Lisa) Calaway and Vicki (Joe) Manders; 14 grandchildren, Bob (Carrie) Calaway, Adam (Pam) Calaway, Kevin Calaway and friend, Crystal, Candace Zilisch, Amy (Tom) Nagelkirk, Christina Eggebeen, Jim (fiance Rose) Calaway, Nick Calaway and friend, Kim, Eric Calaway and friend, Jenny and her son, Tate, Carrie Calaway and friend Travis, Jenna Pasch, Amy (Jason) Fabry, Jenny (James) Santy and Mike Manders; seven great-grandchildren, Drew, Carly, Trevor, Jacob, Tyler, Nichole and Emily. Two brothers and two sisters, Ron (Barb) Calaway, Paul (Nancy) Calaway, Jen (Don) Quinette and Erma (Robert) Ulmen and many nieces and nephews.
Jerome was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Neil and Ken Calaway; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernard (Lorrie) Albers, Al (Lavern) Van Camp, Mae Van Camp, Barb Van Camp, Fabian and Cy Van Camp.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. 10th St., De Pere on Tuesday, March 6, 2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family (corner of Suburban Drive and Lourdes Avenue).
