- Van Den Broek, Jr., John H ., KaukaunaAge 79, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 14, 2004. John w as born in Kaukauna on May 6th, 1924, the only son of the late John, Sr. a nd Jennie (Kindler) Van Den Broek. He graduated from Kaukauna High Scho ol in 1942 and married the former Joyce Catherine Eimmerman on July 30, 19 45. John and Joyce have enjoyed 58 years of marriage. In 1943, John enter ed the United States Army and served in Europe. He served in the Batt le of the Buldge and was a prisoner of war in Germany. The family resid ed in Kaukauna, where they raised their children. John was employed ov er 40 years at Combined Locks Mill, retiring in 1986. John enjoyed fishin g, golfing, woodworking projects and most of all, spending time with his f amily and friends.Survivors include his wife, Joyce; son, Kenneth Van Den Broek, Little Chut e; daughter, Patricia (Kevin) Gondek, Kaukauna; daughter-in-law, Betty (Hi ntz) Van Den Broek, Kaukauna; six grandchildren: Terry (Lisa) Van Den Broe k, Appleton; Scott (Judy) Van Den Broek, Freedom; Sarah Van Den Broek, App leton; Carrie (Keith) Sampson, Missouri; Matthew Van Den Broek, Minnesot a; and Kristen Gondek, Kaukauna; as well as seven great-grandchildren. Jo hn was preceded in death by his son, Gary Van Den Broek in 2002; and great -grandchild, Cullen Van Den Broek.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 17, 2 004, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Mike Schmaltz officiating. Visito rs will be received at the funeral home on Friday, January 16 from 4 unt il 8 p.m., and again on Saturday from 10 until 10:45 a.m. The interment wi ll be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
