- Verdell J. Stoop, age 90, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at Appleton Medical Center. Verdell was born on June 1, 1925, in Clintonville, to the late Henry and Lillian (Trieglaff) Zuhse. She was raised in Clintonville but later moved to Appleton where she met and married her husband Peter. She married Peter Stoop on June 2, 1951, in Clintonville; he preceded her in death on July 15, 2010. Verdell retired from the Accounting Department of Presto Products, in 1988, the same day that Pete retired. She was a long-time member of St. Paul Ladies Aid. Verdell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. With Pete, she enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Survivors include her children, Diane (Larry) Wolfgram, Waukesha; Wayne (Peggy) Stoop, Waukesha; Keith (Leanne) Stoop, Appleton; her grandchildren, Kelly Stoop, Tina (Aaron) O'Reilly, Dawn (Andy) Grundman, Robin (Andrew) Hoppert, Mindy McKilligin, Tyler Stoop and Darren (Traci) Stoop; a great granddaughter, Abby Grundman; her brother, Philip (Carolyn) Zuhse, Shawano; her sister-in-law, Peggy Zuhse; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Rose Sim and her brother, Melvin Zuhse.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street, Appleton, with Rev. Peter Walther officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial has been established in Verdell's name.
