  Sylvia Frances (Lingnofske) Van Asten, age 87, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. On November 27, 1925, Sylvia was born to the late Lawrence and Mary Lingnofske. Sylvia enjoyed sewing clothing for herself, going square dancing, and also going on bus trips. Sylvia will be missed by her three children: Marie (Jim) Sigl, Hortonville; Paul Van Asten, Hines, Oregon; Tom Van Asten, Menasha; her three grandchildren: Anne (John), David, and Danielle; and three great-grandchildren: Austin, Jennifer, and John. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Leola. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont Street, Appleton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the hour of the Mass at the church. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery, Town of Menasha. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established. Published in Appleton Post-Crescent on September 1, 2013
