This was the second marriage of a Schreiter and a Conrad in that Moni ca Conrad (a sister of Walter's father) had married Wenzel Schreiter ma ny years earlier.I recently wrote to Pat Konkle, who is writing a bo ok on Freedom Wisconsin and volunteered to do some research on the Conrad 's and share it with her. In the process I came upon your site and the r eference to Mary Catherine and Joseph. They are the parents of Walter Conr ad. Do you have any information on the Schreiter's or Conrad's? Also, my m usic teacher is related to the Schimmels family of Milwaukee. In researc hing them recently I obtained the naturalization information on Alphon so N. Freedom. Walter Conrad took as his brlde Miss Mabel Kruse, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kruse of Appleton, and Miss Anna Conrad was married to Cornellius J.Hietpas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Hietpas of Little Chute. Only the two couples made up the bridal party bccause each couple acted as witness to the ceremony of the other. The Rev. Father Peters performed the ceremonies. A. wedding dinner was served at the Conrad home after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Conrad and Mr. and Mrs. Hietpas left for a short wedding trip after which they will make their home in Freedom.
