  SMITH -- Eskaline M. Smith of 1707 River Road passed away February 22, 197 1. She was born Oct. 4, 1903 at Center Square, Indiana, and was unit ed in marriage to Darwin C. Smith, October 27, 1927, in Portland, Orego n. She had lived in Rapid City, South Dakota before coming to Eugene, wh ere she had resided for the past 26 years. She is survived by her husban d, Darwin (Doc), eight children: Mrs. David (Betty) Sands, Mrs. Wayne (Da rline) Hoffman, son Wesley E. Smith, Mrs. Dennis (Pat) Horejs, Janet Smit h, Mrs. Fred (Lois) Pauley of Kent, Washington, Mrs. Larry (Kay) Breaux, s on, Robert Smit, Portland, Oregon. Another son Don, preceded her in dea th in 1951. Other survivors include sic grandchildren; four sisters, Mr s. H. H. Durham of Eugene, Mrs. W. L. Drake of Oakland, California, Mrs. R obin Mitchell of Corvallis, Oregon, Mrs. Ray P. Cobb of Grass Valley, Cali fornia; eight nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Central Presbyte rian Church of Eugene. Funeral services will be held Thursday Februa ry 25 at 2 p.m. at the Central Presbyterian Church in Eugene with Revere nd Norman Pott officiating.
