  GRANTED DIVORCE ON DRUNKENNESS CHARGE Mrs. Marabelle W. Merkes, 27, 1005 N. Union-st, was granted an absolute divorce by Judge Edgar V. Werner in circuit court "Wednesday afternoon from her husband Joseph Merkes, 28, route 5, Appleton. Mrs. Merkes charged her husband was cruel and inhuman. She alleged he is an habitual drunkard and mistreated her when he was in that condition. She was granted custody of two minor children and given $50 per month alimony.
