  Donald Kieffer, 84, Appleton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 18, 2008. He was born on Jan. 18, 1924, in Freedom, the son of William and Ida (Verhoven) Kieffer. Donald served in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946. He married Bernice Blob on May 9, 1992. Donald was past president and union arbitrator for the State of Florida Postal Service. He loved to travel and play cards. Donald is survived by his wife, Bernice, and sister, Elaine Van Schyndel. He is further survived by 12 godchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy; brothers, Leo (Jo) Kieffer, Raymond (Ruth) Kieffer, John (Jule) Kieffer, Nick (Ann) Kieffer, Edward (Ann) Kieffer and Frank Kieffer; sisters, Verna (Bill) West, Mabel (Erv) Mueller, Helen (Ed) Gries and Ida Kieffer. A Memorial Service for Donald will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W Marquette, Appleton, with Fr. Gene Gries officiating.
