- Emmet Kelly, 86, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, at St. Paul Home in Kaukauna. He was born June 13, 1921, in Ellington, Wis., to the late Thomas and Jenny (Dorn) Kelly. He married Germaine Klein, Sept. 28, 1943, sharing 61 years together. Emmet was a devoted and loving husband to Germaine until her death Dec. 29, 2004. Emmet was a truck driver for 40 years and employed at Fore Way Express until he retired. He was member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. After retirement, he and Germaine enjoyed 20 years wintering in Texas. While in Texas, he became involved in mission work at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish in Brownsville, Texas. He was a founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church and served on the parish council for many years. He enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister in Texas and at St. Paul Home.
Survivors include five daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Jon Dyer, Flagstaff, Ariz.; Kristine Kelly, Sturgeon Bay; Rebecca Kelly, Tacoma, Wash.; Mary Kelly and fiance, Vince Aurora, Hayden Lake, Idaho; Peggy and John Wydeven, Little Chute; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Doris Kelly, Darboy; Patrick and Grace Kelly, Darboy; Brian and Kathy Kelly, Apex, N.C.; Joseph and Lauren Kelly, Point Venture, Texas; a sister Mary Knaack, Appleton; two sisters-in-law, Jean Kelly, Medina; and Barbara Klein, Neenah; 20 grandchildren, Aaron (Yael) Dyer; Seth Dyer; Todd (Lisa) Kelly; Scott (Christine) Kelly; Jenny Pinter; Michelle, Gina and Thomas Kelly; Paul Rath; Stephanie Rath; Geri Rose Neill, Nicole, Sarah and Sean Wydeven; Stephen, Erin and Megan Kelly; C.J., Cortney and McKenzie Kelly; 15 great-grandchildren.
Emmet was preceded in death by his wife, Germaine; five brothers, Edward (Marjorie) Kelly, Clement (Helen) Kelly, John, Charles and Thomas Kelly; four sisters, Rose (George) Reardon, Anne (Peter) Schaefer, Grace Kelly and Frances Kelly; a sister-in-law, Mary Klein; brothers-in-law, John Knaack, Gerald, Norbert, Lewis, Richard and Joseph Klein; a great-grandson, Ethan Scott Kelly.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Dr., with the Rev. Donald Zuleger officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery, Town of Ellington. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established.
The family wishes to extend a thank you to the entire staff of St. Paul Home and St. Paul Villa. They would also like to express a special thank you to Dr. Nancy Homburg for her many years of caring for both Emmet and Germaine.
