Of Brother Aurelio Verbunt (many years chief of the brothers in Curaçao and chairman of the RKCS; he died in 2000), we received the following information about Friar Radulphus. Adrian Frater Radulphus Hermus was born Klundert-Moerdijk on 03-06-1869. Radulphus joined the Congregation of the Brothers of Tilburg on 15-08-1886. The congregation is officially called: Congregation of the Brothers of Our Lady Mother of Mercy. Abbreviated: Brothers CMM. Radulphus left for the Netherlands Antilles (then called The West) on 19-11-1890. He left the Netherlands Antilles on the advice of his doctor on 16-04-1959 and died in Tilburg on 22-04-1961 and is buried in the cemetery of the friars at Steenwijk in Vught, Netherlands. In februari 1927 werd hij door de Gouverneur benoemd tot plaatsvervangend Inspecteur. Onderscheidingen Op 31 augustus 1924 werd Radulphus benoemd tot Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau. Bij gelegenheid van het 50 jarig verblijf van de fraters in de Nederlandse Antillen op 13-11-1936 werd hij bevorderd tot Officier van Oranje Nassau. Voor de melodie gebruikte hij het Tiroler Hoferlied. Tijdens de feestelijkheden zongen de leerlingen van de St. Jozefschool uit volle borst het lied. Later componeerde frater Candidus Nouwens een nieuwe melodie. Elke koninginnedag (eerst op 31 Augustus en later op 30 April) zongen de schoolkinderen op het Fortplein. Gaandeweg werd het vers ook bij andere officiële gelegenheden ten gehore gebracht. In de loop van de tijd vonden er kleine aanpassingen plaats aan de tekst. Op 26 Juli 1978 verklaarde de Eilandsraad het lied tot het officiële volkslied van Curacao.
