Suzanne Paula Kostka Russ, Little Chute, age 64, passed away peacefully on Monday September 1, 2008, at Brewster Village following a six-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Suzanne was born in Appleton on June 28, 1944, to the late Paul and Harriet (Verkuilen) Kostka. She was employed at Simon's Cheese for 18 years, retiring in 2003 due to her illness. Suzanne enjoyed antiquing, tending to her flowers and traveling.
A loving and dedicated single mother, Suzanne is survived by her daughters, Anne Russ and Erin Russ, both of Kimberly; sisters and brothers: Camilla (Paul) Gailey, Punta Gorda, FL; Bonita (Spec) Hartjes, Winneconne; Marianne (Bob) Schmitt, Wicomico Church, VA; Donald (Florence) Kostka, Alvin; Gerard (Mary) Kostka, Little Chute; Janet Ertl, Appleton; Daniel (Beth) Kostka, Little Chute and Gary Kostka, Kaukauna. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Suzie, as she was called, was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Harriet (Verkuilen) Kostka and two brothers-in-law, Tom Ertl and Bob Wildenberg.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at the Chapel at Brewster Village, 3300 W. Brewster Street in Appleton. Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of the service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a memorial in Suzie's name with the Alzheimer's Association of Wisconsin. Donations can also be made to Brewster Village in her name.
The family would like to thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Brewster Village for their loving care during the last year. We hope her laugh and bright smile brightened your days, as your care and love certainly brightened hers.
Mom, you dedicated your life to raising us girls. We are forever grateful for your love and caring. We will miss you here but will see you again. All our love, Erin and Anne.
