  Kenneth A. Michels, age 84, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home of King, formerly of Berlin, died on Friday morning May 25, 2007 at his home in King. He was born on August 19, 1922 in Fond Du Lac, the son of Peter J. and Catherine (Steube) Michels. He married Dolores R. (Toepke) on April 20, 1946 in Fremont, and she preceded him in death on November 18, 1996. Ken had been a resident of King for the past 11 years. He was a licensed Cheese-maker with his father at the Tustin Star Cheese factory for 20 years, then moved to Berlin after his father died and along with his wife owned and operated the Mink Ranch north of Berlin. Ken also was a school bus driver for Mascoutin transportation of Berlin for 10 years. He was a faithful member of the Grace English Lutheran Church of Berlin, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the V.F.W. of Berlin. He loved to hunt and fish. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. in the Phillipines and Pearl Harbor shortly after the attack. Ken is survived by two daughters, Susan (Robert) Elms of Fond Du Lac and Kathy (Thomas) Mc Carthy of Sister Bay, also two brothers; Levern (Eunice) Michels of Fremont and Clayton Michels of Mc Allen, Texas, one sister, Joyce Voeltner of Ellison Bay, Wi., one daughter in law, Lynn Michels of Chilton, Wi., and his grandchildren; Mary Michels and Matthew Michels both of Chilton, Nancy Mc Carthy and Phillip Mc Carthy both of Sister Bay, Carrie Theis of Fond Du Lac, Eric and Cody Theis of Milwaukee, and one great granddaughter, Sophia Mc Carthy of Sister Bay. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one sister, Doris Drover and his son, Mark. Relatives and friends may call at the Grace English Lutheran Church of Berlin on Saturday June 2, 2007 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. with a Memorial service 11:00 a.m. at the church. A luncheon and fellowship with the family will immediately follow the services at the church and will be held in the Grace Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Inurnment will be held privately with the family on Saturday morning prior to the visitation at the church with full military honors performed by the B in V.F.W. at the Oakwood Cemetery of Berlin.
