- Edward J. Marx, "Eddie", beloved husband and father, age 83, Menasha, di ed Saturday, June 3, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born August 1 2, 1922, on the Marx Homestead to the late Antone and Johannah (Hopfenspe rger) Marx. He married the former Alice Mary Ver Bockel on July 22, 194 4, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hollandtown. The couple farmed the f amily homestead their entire married life, even after retirement.He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Aloysius Catholic Churc h. Eddie loved his family and had a special place in his heart for his gra ndchildren. He enjoyed card games, especially sheepshead. Eddie also enjo yed playing Old Maid, Uno and Scratch with his grandchildren. The grandchi ldren will never forget their special tractor rides with Grandpa.He is survived by his wife, Alice Marx of nearly 62 years. Ed was a wonder ful father to his eight children who also survive: Edward A. (Pat) Marx, J ohn (Carol) Marx, Cathy (special friend Mark) Marx, all of Appleton; Ma ry (Scott) Campbell, Springfield, OR; Dale (Cindy) Marx, Sherwood; Judy (A l) Dix, Kaukauna; Jerry (Connie) Marx, Wrightstown; Terry (Dave) Muntne r, Waupaca; 20 grandchildren: Scott, Ryan (Kathy), Jenny and Andy Marx, Er ic (Tammy) Marx, Lori (Pete) Gerbitz, Andrew and Melissa Campbell, Amy, Na te, Katie Marx and Leah (Frank) Cuda, Dylan and Michael Dix, Luke (fianc ee Tina), Danielle and Makayla Muntner, three great-grandchildren: Haile y, Joe and Logan Marx. He is also survived by two brothers, Isadore (Bern ice) Marx, Kimberly and Clarence (Dorothy) Marx, Freedom. He is further su rvived by his wife's nine siblings, whom he was very close to, as we ll as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Thomas; three sisters and two b rothers-in-law: Lorraine Gauerke, Isabelle (Casey) Van Boxtel, Janet (Ra y) Fischer, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Marx. He is further preceded in dea th by his wife's two brothers, Eugene and Jerry.
Eddie's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 200 6, at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2401 Main Avenue, Kaukauna with Fr. Je rry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received at the Boettcher Fami ly Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna on WEDNESDAY from 4 p. m. until 8 p.m. with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. and again at CH URCH on THURSDAY from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flower s, a memorial is being established. After lunch, burial services will be h eld at St. Mary's Cemetery, Kaukauna.
