- By the death of Mrs. Catherine Keating Mulcahy which occurred on Sunday, Jan. 29th, one more name has been added to the list of early settlers who have gone to their reward. She passed quietly away of old age, at the home of her son-in-law, Edward Kennedy, after a week's illness. She was born in Ireland, May 12, 1811. In 1846 she was married to Wm. Mulcahy and in 1853 they came to America. After remaining in the east for two years they came west and located in the woods in the town of Rantoul in 1855. They remained in that town until 1880, when her husband was elected to the office of county clerk and they moved to this city. In the spring of 1899 her husband died and shortly afterwards she went to live with Mr. Kennedy. She was a devout member of St. Augustine's Catholic Church which she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted and from which she was buried on Wednesday. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. H. T. Hall of Chilton Town, Mrs. J. S. Hephner of Marshfield and Mrs. Dan'l Frawley of Rantoul, all of whom were present at her funeral.
