  Samuel Briggs Will Be Buried Tomorrow Body will be taken to Thornville - was sixty-six years of age. The remains of Samuel Freeman Briggs, who passed away Thursday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Robert McGregor on Watson Street, at the age of sixty-six years, will be taken to Hortonville for burial tomorrow morning. Mr. Briggs was born in Maine, September 8, 1851, and at the age of five years moved with his parents to Hortonville. Here he grew to manhood and in 1880 was married to Emma Griffin. To this union three children were born, two of whom survive. They are Harry D. Briggs of Hortonville and Bessie E. Briggs of Oshkosh. The first born son died in infancy. Mr. Briggs made this state his home until 1900 when he moved to South Dakota where he lived until four years ago. Then he came to this city to spend the remainder of his days with his sister. Besides the two children mentioned above, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Robert McGregor, Antigo; Mrs. Allen Tipler, Neenah; Mrs. George Stein, Long Beach, California; Mrs. H. Sederholn, Genesse, Wis., also three brothers William of Newton, Miss.; Edward of Spearfish, S.D.; Ira of Whitewood, S.D. Two sisters, Mrs. E.A. Tobey of Antigo and Miss Jennie Briggs of Hortonville preceded Mr. Briggs in death some time ago. Antigo Daily Journal February 8, 1918 page 5
