- October 27, 1942 - The fifieth wedding annivarsey of Mr. and Mrs. Layman Stanelle was observed Tuesday with an anniversay service at the Evangelical church, a dinner for guests at the Evangelical camp ground, and an open house at the Stanelle home in the village. Layman, 73, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gottlieb Stanelle, pioneer settlers in Forest Junction, and Augusta, 70, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Zietlow, also pioneer settlers, were married October 27, 1892, in the church then standing at the site of the present cemetery. Mrs. Stanelle still has her wedding garment, a brown two-piece dress trimmed with gold braid and a white veil. Their wedding trip was delayed until the summer of 1937, when the Stanelle's accompanied their son Corbin on a trip to the Dakotas, Montana and Yellowstone National Park. Previously, Mr. Stanelle alone had attended the World's Fair at St. Louis in 1904 and had been to Arkansas on zinc mining business.
