  Richard Peter Melcher, age 87, died peacefully on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Rennes Health Care in Appleton. Richard was born April 6, 1925 in Appleton son of the late Peter and Theresa (Schmeider) Melcher. Dick served his country during WWII and was a tail gunner in a B17 with the US Air Force. Following his service to his country, Richard was united in marriage to Dorothy Nissen on September 11, 1948. They spent 60 wonderful years together and were faithful charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Appleton. Dick was also an avid Golfer. Richard is lovingly survived by a sister, Ethel Brockman, Seymour; and by many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond Street, Appleton with Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
