- Eugene C. Wichman, 77, Appleton, passed away Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at Cherry Meadows with his family at his side. He was born March 11, 1931, to the late Almond and Lorinda (Rohm) Wichman in Appleton. He attended Industrial Hollow Grade School and graduated from Seymour High School in 1948.
Gene married Marion Sommers on June 28, 1952. Eugene was a lifetime dairy farmer until his retirement in 2003 and was also employed at AMC, Elm Tree Bakery and Russ Laird Plumbing. Eugene was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in the Town of Center. He served on the Town of Center Fire Department for 30 years, 12 years as Assistant Fire Chief.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marion; six daughters, Donna (Dale) Born, Farmington, Minn.; Diane (John) Sanks, Appleton; Denise (Steven) Buss, Appleton; Doris (Michael) Kalbus, Appleton; Darlene (Paul) Schroth, Greenville; and Dawn (Michael) Harrell, Appleton; brothers, Glenn (Janice) Wichman, Mountain; and Donald (Beverly) Wichman, Appleton; grandchildren, Jennifer (Gordon) Robinette, Rebecca (Mark) Wagenknecht, Nathan and Phillip Sanks, Trina and Cory Buss, Hannah Kalbus, Danielle, Samantha and Lindsey Schroth, Adam Harrell; and step-granddaughter, Shelly (Mike) Doering; great-grandchildren, Thomas and Laura Robinette, Nicholas Wagenknecht; and step-great-grandchildren, Alexa, Carlee, Bryce and Lance Doering; brother-in-law, Charles (Darlene) Sommers. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin brother and sister.
Funeral services for Eugene will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church (Hwy. 47) with the Rev. Jeffrey Suhr and the Rev. Micah Martin officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may visit the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and again Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service.
A memorial fund is being established.
