  DALE BOY KILLED WHEN LIGHTNING HITS LOAD Of HAY DONALD HOFFMAN STRUCK DOWN WHILE WORKING IN HAY FIELD - WAGON LOAD OF HAY BURNS Donald Hoffman, 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoffman, living near the town of Dale, was struck by lightning and instanty killed about four o'clock yesterday afternoon. The lad was working in the field with his father and uncle when the tradgedy occurred. He was standing on a wagon load of hay, which had just been filled by the workers, when lightning struck the wagon. The wagon immediately burst into flames. The father snatched the boy from the burning hay before the flames could reach him, hut death had already occurred. The wagon and its load was completely detroyed by fire and one of the horses killed. The other horse escaped without injury. It was not until half an hour later that the storm broke. The sky was cloudy and threatening when the lightning struck, but there was no rain to warn the workers to leave their task. The boy leaves his father and mother and one sister. The funeral will take place at nine o'clock Thursday morning from the Catholic church, Town of Dale. Interment will be made in the Hortonville Catholic cemetery.
