  Carol T. Ashauer, 81, of Appleton, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Theda Clark Medical Center. Carol was born on May 22, 1928, in Kaukauna, to the late Nicholas and Wilamina (Fischer) Lummerding. She married James Ashauer on May 14, 1951, in Kaukauna; her husband of 46 years preceded her in death on July 21, 1997. Carol was employed at the Lieber Lumber Company, Farmers and Merchants Bank and the Kaukauna School System. She was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club, Ladies Elk Club, an avid Packer and Badger fan, and enjoyed golfing and playing cards. For over 20 years, she and Jim wintered in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and visited their sons in California. Survivors include her sons: Michael (Patty) Ashauer, Napa, California; and Stephen Ashauer, Aliso Viejo, California; her sister, Mary Downs, Appleton; and her niece, Barb (Cliff) Bobber. She is further survived by her brothers-in-law: Eugene (Margaret) Ashauer, John (Ione) Ashauer, Thomas (Kathy) Ashauer; her sisters-in-law: Carol Jansen and Carol Ashauer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister Peggy Winn and her brothers-in-law, Leon Ashauer, Martin Downs and Gene Winn. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
