- Schuh, Rev. EarlRev. Earl Schuh , 88, Green Bay, died Tuesday afternoon, December 27, 200 5, at a local nursing home following a long illness. Born in Freedo m, WI on April 24, 1917 he is the son of the late Peter and Anna (Schmit t) Schuh. He graduated from St. Nicholas Elementary School in Freedom.He then attended the Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz and St. John Semi nary in Collegeville, MN and was ordained on May 29, 1943 by Bishop Pa ul P. Rhode at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral of Green Bay. Father Schuh's f irst appointment was as an Assistant at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral of Gr een Bay (1943-1948). He then served as Assistant at St. Anthony Parish, Oc onto Falls (1948); Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Kimberly (1948-1952); and S t. Mary Parish, Oshkosh (1952-1957). Father Schuh was appointed Past or of St. Anthony Parish, Tigerton (1957-1960); Holy Martyrs of Gorcum Par ish, Green Bay (1960-1968); and SS. Peter & Paul Parish, Green Bay (1968-1 993). He also served as a member of the Priest's Personnel Board (1993) a nd the Presbyteral Council (1997).Father Schuh retired from active priestly ministry in June 30, 1992 and h as been Pastor Emeritus at SS. Peter & Paul Church. Father Schuh was Found er and Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Council 10552 of SS. Peter & Pa ul Parish. He was also the Chaplain of SS. Peter & Paul Family Prayer Nigh t, a strong pro-life advocate and always giving to the poor.Father Schuh officiated in the Sacrament of Marriage for his brothers, sis ters and numerous nieces and nephews. Family was important to him. They we re always able to call on him to celebrate baptisms and anniversarie s. He initiated and hosted the annual Schuh Family Reunion for many yea rs always beginning this event with Mass. This tradition continues to th is day. He was there for many of us in time of sickness and death. He cele brated the Mass of Resurrections for his parents, brothers and sisters. Ce lebrating Mass was a favorite part of priesthood for Father Schuh. After h is retirement he continued to celebrate Mass Thursday through Sunday at ar ea nursing and retirement homes. His enjoyed helping his brothers and sist ers on the farm, woodworking, traveling, and bird watching.Survived by his brothers: Peter (Lucille) Schuh of Freedom; Art (Millie) S chuh of Appleton; a sister, Calixta (Andrew) Vosters of Little Chute; sist ers-in-law: Lucille Schuh of Pulaski; Helen Schuh of Kaukauna; numerous ni eces and nephews.Preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clement, Ignatius (Martha), Ra ymond (Bertha), Servanus and Gust (Agnes) Schuh; sisters: Clara (Casper) S chauer and Anna (Henry) Vosters; nieces and nephews; his housekeeper: Mar ge Spanbauer.Reception of the body by the Regional Vicar, the Very Reverend John H. Har per, will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday (TODAY) at SS. Peter & Paul Churc h, Green Bay. Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. when there will be a p rayer service led by Monsignor Roy M. Klister. Visitation will resume on F riday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral mass. The Funeral Liturg y, expressing our faith and our hope in the promised glory of the Lord's R esurrection will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at SS. Peter & Paul Church, Gre en Bay. The Most Reverend David A. Zubik will be the presider and the Re v. David B. Beaudry will preach the homily.
