- Thomas Barry, Sr., for twenty years chief of police of the city of Chilton, died at Appleton, Wednesday night of heart disease. He was forced to discontinue active work more than a month ago and for three weeks before his passing was confined to St. Elizabeth hospital at Appleton, where he submitted to an operation for gall stones.
Deceased was born in Erie, Pa., August 15, 1855, and came to Wisconsin with his parents at an early age. The family settled on a farm near Milwaukee but later moved to Calumet County. Mr. Barry was united in marriage to Miss Theresa King and the couple settled in the town of Chilton. They sold the farm in 1900 and came to resided in the city of Chilton. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include the widow and seven children, Garrett of Sheboygan, Thomas of Milwaukee, Donald of Columbus, Ohio, Beatrice of Milwaukee, Bessie of Chicago, Alfred at home and James also of this city.
The remains were brought back to Chilton and services were held from St. Augustine church this morning. The Rev. J. E. Meagher officiated and interment was made in St. Augustine's cemetery.
