- Green Bay - Derrald Peeters, 83, died Wednesday, August 1, 2018 after a courageous 10-month battle against MDS cancer. He was born on April 29, 1935, to Phillip and Irene (Tonnon) Peeters.
On January 28, 1956, Derrald married Betty McHugh and they enjoyed 62 years of married life. After 44 years, he retired from Georgia Pacific East (James River). The day Derrald retired he had a job with the Green Bay School District as a crossing guard. For 17 years, he lovingly helped the children safely cross to school and the children loved him. Derrald had a great interest in his sons lives, be it their jobs or their hobbies.
Derrald is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Mike, Tom, Randy (special friend, Bud Froelich), Scott, Jeff (special friend, Melissa Stannard); grandchildren, Kelly Martin, Tasha Peeters, Tanya Holden, Natalie Peeters, Mandi Matthews; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Carlson; nieces and nephews, Eric and Linda Carlson, Michelle and Jamie Shallow and their children; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Peeters; granddaughter, Ali Peeters; mother-in-law, Mayme McHugh; and brother-in-law, Nate Carlson.
Friends may visit at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue at St. Jude Catholic Church, 1420 Division St., from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, followed by the Mass of Resurrection at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Schmidt officiating. A memorial fund has been established in Derrald's name to benefit Green Bay Oncology and Unity Hospice.
