  Ernst Stecker, 71, of Chilton, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth hospital, Appleton, following a short illness. He was born Dec. 5, 1876, in the town of Rantoul, the son of Christian and Mary Stecker, attended the rural schools, and was engaged in farming in Calumet county almost his entire life. For the past year he had made his home with Mr. and Mrs. Max Caspter in Chilton. He was unmarried. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Helen Voigt, Appleton, and Mrs. Martin Hillman of Brothertown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Erbe-Hoffman Funeral home at Chilton. The Rev. G. W. Zuberbier, pastor of St. Martin's Lutheran church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the Portland cemetery at Brant. The body will lie in state at the funeral home from Friday noon until the time of the services. -The Sheboygan Press, Thursday, July 8, 1948, page 10.
