- Hastened Father's Death Suicide of James Cline Followed by Death of Martin Cline
Martin Cline, father of James Cline who committed suicide in the presence of his wife about a month ago, by drinking carbolic acid, died at the city hospital last night, his death having been hastened by his son's act. Cline was 75 years old. He was not in good health, and after his son's tragic death, failed rapidly. He lived at 954 Clark Street

I searched the April 1904 St. Paul Dispatch and found an article from April 19, 1904 entitled "Takes Life Before Wife: Sensational Suicide of James Cline Because She Would Not Return to Him: Struggle Over a Bottle:
Mrs. Cline Severely Burned by Carbolic Acid in Trying to Snatch the Vial". According to the article Mrs. Cline left Mr. Cline because he drank and abused her and then he tried to get her back and when she refused to come he drank the acid. I will put this article and an invoice in an envelope on Wednesday, December 26 and then it will probably take a few days before it gets to you.
