- Russell N. Kempen, W 2865 Cty Rd KK Kaukauna,age 72, died unexpectedly of a stroke early Sunday morning August 23, 1998 at home. He was born May 7, 1926 at home in Hollandtown the son of the late William and Hattie (Arts) Kempen. He married Germaine Van Treeck at St. Mary's Catholic Church Kaukauna on April 14, 1951. Russell farmed on the home place until his retirement in 1987 after which time he remained active helping his son, Tony, with the farm. He lived for the farm, deer hunting and Packer football. He shot in the Schut for 25 years and was an active member of St. Francis parish in Hollandtown. He loved spending time with his family and many friends, and he enjoyed teasing everybody, especiall his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Germaine Van Treeck Kempen; two daughters; Debbie Kempen, Kaukauna; Bonnie (John) Giordana, Little Chute; two sons; Tony (Terri) Kempen, Brillion; Dan (Kathy) Kempen, Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren; Angela, Uriah, Nicholas and Jonathon Giordana, Jenny, Amy and Andy Kempen; four sisters; Arvilla (Roche) Vande Hey, Sutherlin, Oregon; Evelyn Van Lanen, Green Bay; Cordell Hurst, Kaukauna; Delores (Gerald) Schaefer, Appleton; a sister in-law, Irene Kempen, Appleton. He is furthur survived by his wife's two brothers; Cletus (Louise) Van Treeck, Kaukauna; Jack (Ruth) Van Treeck, Kaukauna; his wife's sister, Eyla Mae (Roger) Zwiers, Kaukauna; numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren and much loved cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marianne Kempen, a brother, Merlin Kempen, three brothers in-law; Ralph Van Lanen, Harold Rosin and Floyd Hurst. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Wednesday, August 26, 1998 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown with Fr. Stan Browne officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery, Hollandtown. Friends may call at Fargo Funeral home 400 W. Wis. Ave. Kaukauna from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday and after 9:30 AM Wednesday at the church until the time of service. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:30 Pm Tuesday evening. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
