- Verna M. Kiekhaefer, 85, New Holstein, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 20, 2008. She was born September 24, 1923, in the Town of Wrightstown to the late Erwin and Leona Uecker Schwahn. Verna married Martin F. Kiekhaefer September 30, 1944, at Zion Lutheran Church, Morrison. Mom was a loving hard working farmers wife until they sold the farm in 1971 and moved to Brillion. She took excellent care of Dad after he became disabled in 1972, but still found time for the grandchildren and later the great-grandchildren. They moved back to Wayside in 1972, where she lived until 2001 when she moved to Garrow Villa in Brillion and later to Homestead Care Center, New Holstein, in 2007. She loved her music and would sing along. She will be sadly missed.
Survivors include a son, Gary Kiekhaefer and fiance Ann, West Allis, WI; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Glori Jensen, Burnsville, MN; Jan and Denver Lau, Donna and Bill Foytik, all of Brillion; grandchildren: Marty Jensen, Lee Jensen, Todd and Jody Lau, Terry and Shelly Lau, Tanya and Todd Boettcher, Michelle and Steve Schleis, Jeremy and Micki Foytik, Jenny Kiekhaefer and fiance Dan Derler, great-grandchildren: Cameron and Alie Jensen, Amber Lau, Jenna and Avery Scholmberg, Max Lau, Justin Bastian, Brady and Marlie Boettcher, Mara, Cheyanne and Elyssa Schleis, Tyler and Brielle Foytik; a brother, Lyle Schwahn and special friend JoAnn, Marshfield, WI; a sister and two brothers-in-law: Eunice and Gilbert Siebert, Greenleaf; Gilbert Schultz, Reedsville; a sister-in-law, Irene Kiekhaefer, Wayside; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin in 1997; three sisters: Elda Schultz, Gertrude Klug and twin sister Erna Boeder; a son-in-law, Bernie Jensen and a grandson, Josh Moede.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church, 8378 County Road W, Wayside, Wisconsin, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral service 1 p.m. at the church with Rev. Andrew Thompson officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
