Funeral services will be 6 p.m. Monday at St. Nicholas Catholic Churc h, Freedom with Father Dennis Ryan officiating. Burial will be in the pari sh cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church from 2 p.m. until t he time of services. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been establish ed in his name. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna is assisting t he family. A complete obituary will appear in Sunday's paper. He was born November 10, 1931 in the Town of Lawrence son of the la te Lawrence and Anna (Geurden) Vandenberg. Don graduated from Freedom Hi gh School in 1950. In 1953 he married the former Eleanor DeGoey in Combin ed Locks. He was employed by Miller Electric for 42 years, retiring in 199 4. Don was an avid sportsman and loved the Packers. He helped organize a nd coached the Freedom Little League. He was a member of St. Nicholas Cath olic Church, Freedom, was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Coun cil 8061, was a charter member of the Freedom Volunteer Fire Department a nd was on the Board of Directors for the Kaukauna Bowling Association f or 20 years. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Eleanor (DeGoe y); two daughters and sons-in-law: Laurie (Steve) Presteen, Linda (Jerry " Scooby") Schumacher; four sons and daughters-in-law: Daniel "Butch" (Su e) Vandenberg, David "Cricket" (Joan) Vandenberg, Bruce (Stacy) Vandenber g, Bryan "Cheesy" (Kristy) Vandenberg; 14 grandchildren: Connie (Bill) Eri ckson, Jamie Vandenberg, Sara and Andy Presteen, Dana and Amanda Vandenber g, Kelly and Katie Schumacher, Nick, Jake and Matt Vandenberg, Monica, Dei on and Riley Vandenberg, and a great-grandchild, Kallysta Erickson; a brot her and sisters: Eugene (Lu Anne) Vandenberg, Pat (John) Bougie, Diane (Do n) Krueger, Suzanne Pahl, Betty (Carl) Evers. He is further survived by h is wife's family: Bill (LeAnne) DeGoey, Sylvia Bird, Angie (Stony) VanD er Steen, Carol Burmester, JoAnne Jansen, John Wirth Jr. Don was preced ed in death by his wife's parents: John and Amelia DeGoey, her stepmothe r, Anne and a brother-in-law, Bernie Schuh. Funeral services will be 6 p. m. Monday at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom with Father Dennis Ry an officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call di rectly at the church from 2 p.m. Monday until the time of services. In li eu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name.
