- Nushart, Kenneth JohnMr. Kenneth John Nushart, 70, Soldotna resident, died Wednesday, August 18 ,2004 at the Elmendorf A.F.B. Hospital in Anchorage, AK.Memorial services will be held 7 p.m., Monday, August 23, 2004 at Our La dy of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Soldotna. Father John Hollemanwi ll officiate. A reception will follow the services at the O'Neill Hall. Ke n's ashes will be laid to rest at his son's memorial tree.Ken was born October 23, 1933 in Kaukauna, WI where he was raised and h ad graduated from Kaukauna High School. He had entered in the United Stat es Army in 1956 serving as Military Police during which time he was statio ned in Germany. He was an expert marksman while he was in the Army a nd he was honorably discharged in 1958. Ken had first moved to Anchorag e, AK in 1980and later moved to Soldotna, AK in 1991. He had worked at S t. Jude's Children Home in Nevada and at the Kenai Care Center in Kenai fr om which he retired in 2000. Ken was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetu al Help in Soldotna. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and being with his fa mily.The family wrote, "Ken will be missed by all who loved him, including h is fishing family and friends. He loved to laugh and made everyone arou nd him happy. Sunday BBQ's were a family tradition. Thank you to all the s taff at Elmendorf Hospital for all of their love and support. Ken's love f or life will be carried on in all who knew him. We miss you Dad."God saw he was getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put his ar ms around him and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watch ed you,and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not m ake you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands to res t. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Dorothy Nushart; father -in-law, George Mielke; and his son, Ken "Kip" Nushart.He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Lou Nushart of Soldotna; so n, Kevin and his wife Susie Nushart of Menasha, WI; son, Keith and his wi fe Dawn Nushart of Soldotna, AK; daughter, Kim and her husband Steve Russe ll of Kenai;daughter, Kris Nushart of Soldotna; eleven grandchildren and s ix great-grandchildren; brother, Cliff and his wife, Susie Nushart of Gree nleaf, WI;sister, Carol and her husband Greg Vandervelden of De Pere, W I; sisters-in-aw, Ruth Gorski, Shirley and her husband George Majeski, Chr is and her husband Allen Eldred, Marge Hartmann, Patricia and her husba nd Al Lisowe and Georgie and her husband Larry Spietz; brother in law, D on Mielke; and sister-in-law, Janice and her husband Jim Lamers.
