- Dolores "Dee" Smith (Schuh), age 73, of Arbor Vitae, passed away at her home in the beautiful northwoods on Friday, April 15 surrounded by her loving family. Dee was born on November 28, 1937, in Freedom (Appleton), Wisconsin, to Fred and Catharine (Meulemans) Schuh. She married Gerry (Gerald) Smith on August 17, 1957, and they settled in Wausau to raise their family. They retired to their beautiful cabin in the northwoods in 1991 where they enjoyed twenty wonderful years surrounded by nature, enjoying gardening, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing and cross-country skiing. Their passion for nature also led them on many travels throughout the United States in their camper. Dee treasured the simple joys of life: nature, flowers, snowflakes, sunsets, children and time spent with family and friends.
Dee is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years Gerry, her five children - Lisa (Keith) Fenhaus of Plymouth, MN; Linda (Valen) Brost of Grass Valley, CA; Laura (Paul) Martin of Wausau; Jeff (Kris) Smith of Victoria, MN; and Greg (Teri) Smith of Madison; her siblings - Rita Tessen, Cecilia Smet, Virginia Martin, James Schuh and Theodore Schuh; her grandchildren - Bethany and Brent Fenhaus; Flene (Butler), Zarik, Jesic, Stara, Mriah and Rlija Brost; Sarah and Adam Martin; Megan and Katelyn Smith; and Sabrina, Lukas and Katy Smith, and her great-grandchildren - Hailey and Brandon Butler; Micah, Urijah, and Ezekiah Brost.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Richard and Harold Schuh, and her cherished granddaughter, Allison Smith.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 8950 County Road J, Woodruff, Wisconsin, 54568 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and will be followed by an outdoor prayer service at 11 a.m. In her memory, she would prefer that you plant flowers or give some flowers to someone.
