I wonder if they could be the same c ouple as the James and Anna Moriarty/Moriarity who lived in Deer Creek, Ou tagamie Co., WI, from at least 1900 and were still living there in 1930. T heir children: Catherine born Sep 1899 (also known as Mary K. in 1910 a nd Marie in 1920); Sylvester born 1904/1905; Elenora/Elenor born 1907; a nd Genevieve born 1909 (all this from US censuses).All censuses agree with the parents' ages and birth places. James was bo rn in New Hampshire in 1862; Anna was born in Wisconsin in 1872. Is the fo ur-year discrepancy in her age sufficient to dismiss the possibili ty of a link between your James and Anna and mine? How solid is your da te of birth? And do you know, or even guess at, anything about their child ren? My interest is in Sylvester Moriarity, son of James and Anna Moriari ty of Deer Creek, WI. He was 5 years old in 1910 and 15 years old on 1 Jan uary 1920 (US censuses). I cannot find him in 1930. He married between 19 32 and 1937 a far distant relative of mine, Margaret Monty, daughter of Jo hn Julius Monty and Margaret Ellsbury/Elsbury of Clintonville, WI, who w as 10 months old on 15 April 1910. They had a son born in Milwauk ee on 17 September 1937. My source here is the Appleton, WI, Post-Cresce nt of 16 and 21 September 1937. I cannot find the family after that time a nd have tried to think of alternative spellings or nicknames. Nothing see ms to work.One last possibility: the Wisconsin Birth Index for years before 1907 sho ws the birth of a John S. Moriarity in Outagamie Co. on 26 Apr 1904. I ha ve yet to see the actual birth record. Would you have it by any chance? Co uld the "S." stand for Sylvester? Your thoughts and comments on this will be greatly appreciated. I'll me h appy to send you more specific information about Margaret Monty and her fa mily should you think our families may be related however distantly.
