Elaine Van Den Eng, 59, Freedom died Friday, May 11, 2007, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born May 19, 1947, in Appleton, daughter of John and Leona (Van Dyke) Vande Leygraaf. Elaine married Ronald J. Van Den Eng, November 7, 1967, in Little Chute. She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom.
Elaine was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Ronald; her children: Sue (Steve) Evers, Kevin (Jen) Van Den Eng, Jody (Jesse) Van Boxtel and Kyle Van Den Eng, all of Freedom; grandchildren: Matt and Courtney Evers; Sam, Nichole and Austin Van Den Eng; Jadyn and Jenna Van Boxtel; brothers and sisters: Robert (Caryl) Vande Leygraaf, Little Chute; Dorothy (Darvin) Gagnow, Seymour; Lois Jean (Roman) Bruecker, Hollandtown; Arlene (Robert) Vande Voort, Little Chute; Jim (Cheryl) Vande Leygraaf, Lake Tomahawk; brothers-in-law: Gene (Kenice), Marvin, Floyd (Joan) and Clarence (Millie) Van Den Eng and Clarence "Whitey" Gerrits; sisters-in-law: Eunice Van Daalwyk and Joyce Dombrowski.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Damian "Sonny" (Everly) Vande Leygraaf; sisters-in-law: Gladys (Louis) Fravel, Evelyn Gerrits and Bobbie Van Den Eng; brothers-in-law: Bob Van Daalwyk and Herb Dombrowski.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Monday and at the church, from 11 a.m. Tuesday, until the time of the mass. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
