- Berchem, Lillian M.Lillian M. Berchem, age 83, of W2746 Faro Springs Rd. Hilbert, died on Tue sday, June 1, 2004 at Calumet Medical Center in Chilton. She was born on J une 26, 1920 in St. John daughter of the late Peter and Rose Margaret (Mei er) Thiel. She married Sylvester Berchem on October 30, 1945 at St. John C atholic Church in St John. They lived in Brillion from 1945-1951. In Augu st of 1951 she moved to their farm on Faro Springs Road where she and h er husband lived and farmed for 53 years.She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hilbert, a member of the C hristian Mothers for over 50 years, the Chilton Mission Society, taught C CD for 21 years, and a member of the Catholic Rural Life Organization. S he also volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul in Hilbert, was a foster paren t, an avid gardener, loved farming, chickens, quilting, and embroidery, w as a wonderful cook and most of all loved her children and grandchildre n, and through it all it always seemed she lived for her favorite holid ay Christmas.She is survived by her husband Sylvester of Hilbert; two children: Rose Ma ry (Gary) Schaefer of Hilbert, and Keith (Barbara) Berchem of Hilbert; eig ht grandchildren: Vicki (Jason) Csida of Paris, TX; Christine Berchem a nd special friend Peter B. Goetsch of New Holstein; Kimberlee Berchem a nd fiance Jason Ebben of Appleton; Eric Berchem of Darboy; Holly Schaef er and fiance Alan Plate of Hilbert; Kevin Schaefer and special friend Den ise Napparalla of Menominee; Tim Schaefer of Hilbert; and Dan Schaef er of Hilbert; three sisters: Esther (Ken) Martin of Menasha; Eleanor Thi el of Chilton; Sr. Rosilda Thiel of Sun Prairie; a brother, Ronald (Mary L ou) Thiel of Sherwood; two brothers-in-law: Robert Schwabenlander of New F ranken; Al (June) Berchem of Milwaukee; and a sister-in-law, Francis Thi el of Brillion.She was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister Armella Schwabenlande r, and a brother Ermin Thiel.Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004 at St. Mary Cat holic Church in Hilbert with the Rev. Rallen Stencil officiating. Burial w ill follow in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday at Wieting F amily Funeral Home in Chilton, 411 W. Main St, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. A pari sh prayer service will be held on Friday evening at the funeral home.
