  Van Vreede, Margaret L. Nee Stein AppletonLoving wife, mother, grandmother, age 73, died on Friday, September 13, 20 02 at Cherry Meadows Hospice, following a courageous battle with cancer. M argaret was born on December 4, 1928 in the Town of Vandenbroek, daught er of the late John and Marie (Plesser) Stein. On November 27, 1952, Marga ret married Carl Van Vreede, and they have enjoyed almost 50 years of marr iage together. Margaret was a former employee at Valley Redi-Mix from 19 46 - 1955, and at Shopko for 7 years. For a number of years, she was an ac tive volunteer as a University of Michigan Extension 4-H leader; teachi ng sewing, knitting and crafts, and participating in local Fairs. Margar et also volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was an excellent seamst ress, and enjoyed reading in her spare time. Margaret is survived by her h usband, Carl; her 5 children, Carla (Brad) Freeman; Jane Van Vreede; Bi ll (Tammy) Van Vreede; Larry (Stacey Foster and her children, Maureen a nd Renae) Van Vreede; Vicki (Jude) Hietpas; her brother, James Stein; 3 si sters, Jane Bauman; Frances Vander Linden; Marie Simon; 9 grandchildren, E ric and Marc Freeman; Jessica, Tony, Michael, Billy and Katelyn Van Vreed e; and Becky and Mandi Hietpas; and her brother-in-law, Harvey (Lorrain e) Van Vreede; three sisters-in-law: Elaine Van Vreede; Helen Van Vreede a nd Catherine Van Vreede.Further survived by many nieces and nephews. Marga ret was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold; Frank; and John; her si ster, Bernice Weisnicht; 4 brothers-in-law, Norbert, Alois, Victor and Flo yd; and her sister-in-law, Georgianna Weyers. The Mass of Resurrection wi ll be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at ST. THOMAS MO RE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Street, Appleton, with Rev. Gera ld Falk officiating. The interment will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cem etery, Appleton. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday, Septem ber 17 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family would li ke to extend their gratitude to the staff of Cherry Meadows Hospice, for t heir loving care of Margaret.
